May Matters Day 9- T for Team

Well, it's now day 3 of our inter schools competition and I don't know about anyone else, but I'm shattered. It's been hot and tiring and a very long day- but I've really enjoyed it. It's been fun, the children have enjoyed themselves and put up fabulous performances and at the end of the day that's what it's all about.

What has been fantastic moreover, has the new friendships that have been built and how everyone intermingles with each other. It doesn't matter what age you are, or what school you play for, what country you're from or even what language you speak, everyone just gets on with it.

It was out T ball competition today. Now, I didn't know the first thing about T ball- but with a lot of helping hands and kind words from other coaches and teachers, I just about managed to finish today without getting really confused about what was going on.

The amazing thing that surprised me the most about today, was how everyone had a positive attitude and how children from small schools were put together with other small school to make a team. This worked so well. Some teams comprised of children fro 3 or 4 different schools- But everyone just got on with it, worked together and had a great time.

To finish with, I'll just leave you a couple of quotes, that was heard by the many different  people around the stadium.
When asked to make up team numbers with the school from Kathmandu- One young man really thought that he would have to go there to play.
.
When, at the end of a race, one of our girls, was asked about her medal position by saying 'Where did you finish i.e what position did you get? Then she replied- Over there.!

But the best quote that was overheard was :
It doesn't matter that we didn't win or get any medals, as long as we take part and are enjoying ourselves, that's all that matters.
(And that is what it's all about:)

Until next time, Amanda x
