May Matter- Day 12 Memories and Meanderings

My friends would say I like to shop- and that is very true- One of things I do like to buy is a little souvenir or two or few, of the various places I visit.

My house back in England was a bit like a museum, of all the countries I'd been to and things that I'd picked up along the way. I would walk through each room and say- That picture was from Thailand, or that throw was from Ecuador etc etc and I would smile and remember the day I'd got it.

So looking around my apartment over here, I discovered a few other things- One is that despite being over here only a year and a half, I've accumulated a lot of stuff and secondly I have a nice little collection of souvenirs from my travels from this part of the world.

Then I gathered them together for a quick photo to share.

Souvenirs from Bali-Including a table runner, a little tin elephant and a mosaic tiled coaster. The picture was from an artist who was selling his artwork from a little house way up amongst the paddy field terraces

This was one that I'd shipped over with some of my belongings. One of hundreds of wall hangings that were for sale in South America. This one caught my eye as it was a little different from the usual bright colours that were everywhere. I bought it in a little gallery type shop along the side of the cathedral in La Paz, Bolivia

Bits and pieces I'd picked up in Laos

And Thailand.

I brought lots back from Vietnam- I particularly liked all the textile work and loved this patchwork table  runner- Yes I know I've already got one from Bali and I only have one table... but it was so pretty!

Very Vietnamese souvenirs- A coffee filter, for gorgeous Vietnamese coffee, lacquer work rice bowls  & photo album and a communist propaganda print.

I wonder what I'll pick up on my next trip.
 until next time :)

  1. I like them all! I always try to get a small souvenir when I visit a new place. I think that's a big part of the fun of traveling.
