Hello. It's March already and my pile of books to read just keeps getting bigger! I'm Joining with circleofpinetrees for my 'Year of Books'.
For this month I have the new Mitch Albom book to read 'The First Phone Call from Heaven'. To be honest I'm about halfway through it- but thought i would recommend it anyway. Forgive the Amazon grabbed picture- But I bought the book on Kindle, rather than a hard copy. It's still only in Hardback and despite being a book lover- I could not justify the price they wanted for it- particularly here- where import costs are added to everything!- So Kindle edition it is!
If you have never read any Mitch Albom, then I'm sure you'll really enjoy it and find it very different. If you are already an Albom fan- you know already how nice a read all his books are.
This one tells the tale of a small town in America, where, for whatever reason residents are getting phone calls from their loved ones, all the way from the other side. It's a gentle paced story, that deals with belief, heaven, the effect of the media and a town's rise from backwater to media spotlight. Overall it's a story about the characters left on this side and their dealings with it all. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story develops ad how it will all work out in the end!As for my February read- The Little Coffee Shop in Kabul- I reviewed it here , but really did enjoy it.
I've also read a couple of thrillers and chic lit to while away the time too. One of these was 'The Snowman' by Jo Nesbo. It was the first I had read by this Scandanavian author- but it certainly won't be the last- Such a great book- If you like the spine tingling thriller sort!
So there you go, a few more things to read for March- Hope you have a good read:)
