An In'owl'gural Book Club Party!

Many of my happy things last week involved a fantastic collection of owl bits and pieces. Very cute and very in! They seemed to be everywhere- and once you start looking you just can't stop!

Well, luckily for me I had a great excuse to use them! Under the pretence of changing around my classroom, I whiled away many an hour on the internet, finding quotes and pictures that had an owl theme!
But it didn't stop there- as I had decided to use them as decorations for our first -newly reinvented- book club meeting.

I've been in a couple of book clubs before- but the last one here in KK died a bit of a death- so we decided to rejuvenate the idea, invite a whole host of people and see what happened.

Now, I don't know if I've mentioned this before but I love playing the 'hostess with the mostest'! I love all the planning, the decorations and even the cooking and tend to get absorbed in the whole idea of parties.

So I started thinking about books and reading and how the party should look- I had originally planned for lots of paper made things, book upcycling and stuff- but then saw the cute owl plates and was smitten!

So a wise reading owl theme it was!

We had some cute banners to decorate the hallway
And everyone got a reading goodie bag :)
But the cutest thing was this owl lantern I made- I want to make a whole parliament of them!

More presents..
And even a chance to win some prizes.
Even our food table was decorated with owls.
But the nicest thing was having a group of people together..

To swap books, lend books and talk books...
And just do a lot of nattering in general!

But we did establish some ideas and work out what we are going to read for our first book.

This time it doesn't involve any owls- It involves a circus!!
I am already planning the decorations!

  4. Looks like great fun - would love to have been there. Are you reading Night Circus? I read it about a year ago and enjoyed it - not as good as I thought it would be though.

  6. You're right Amanda, everything is very owly at the moment - especially in the craft magazines either paper, felt, yarn or fabric. Your book group sounds a great idea and quite unique that you can swap books with other members. I'm sure you'll be the perfect hostess. Good luck and enjoy.
