A bit different from my usual wordless Wednesday- a few words and pictures this week instead.
Last week our sixth form decided to organise a cake sale in order to raise funds for those that were affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.
A mass bake was made by children, parents and staff and then brought into school to sell at break time.
It all ran smoothly and everyone benefited- from those who will receive the money- to us, who got to eat the cakes!
We had so many cakes to sell, we ended up selling them later in the afternoon too.
The collection boxes were around all day, to receive donations as well as cake money.
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!
And our school rock band made an appearance
So all in all, a fun and worthwhile morning.
After the sale and other donations being handed in over 7000RM was raised- which works out about 1300-1400 pounds. Not bad for a morning's work:)
Until Next time

Such a nice event and for a good cause too. I'm glad it went well!
ReplyDeleteIt was worthwhile and enjoyable - all at the same time.
DeleteWhat a great idea. You guys did good - your school rocks!
ReplyDeleteYeah, everyone did fantastic- It's amazing what people can do when everyone works together
DeleteWow, that is a huge amount of money to raise from a bake sale. Everyone involved did so well. I am sure that the donation will make a big difference to those affected by the disaster. Way to go everyone at your school!! xx
ReplyDeleteWe all got together and made it happen- it was the best sale we have ever had. We have links with other international schools in SE Asia and through this, our money will get sent to where it is needed.
DeleteWow, that's an amazing amount to raise just from a bake sale! It's brilliant that everyone got behind it and, from your pics, there seem to be a lot of talented bakers in KK. x
ReplyDeleteIt's the most we have raised ever! We have bake sales every valentines day- for a local charity- and usually raise a quarter of what we did this time:) A lot more secondary students were involved this time- and that made a big difference.
DeleteHow many children do you have in the school? That sounds a huge amount to raise which will be such a help towards those whose homes and lives have been destroyed.

We have about 300 children- from ages 3- 18. It was really well supported, as the Philippines are relatively close to here and we have links to some schools there.
DeleteWhat a great idea. And you did so well, that's a lot of money! Well done to you and everyone, what a lot of hard work went into that. x
ReplyDeleteIt's surprising what people can do with not a great deal of individual effort- but collectively they make a difference:)
