Ends and Beginnings

Well hello, how's everyone doing today? For those eagle eyed among you, you may well have spotted a change in the titles and blog header! I thought the colours and tag line needed a little bit of an overhaul since I no longer live in the tropics and live in a much cooler climate. I still dream of life over there and all my amazing travels, but I'm determined to embrace living back here in Cumbria as well.

Hence the post title, end of a new blog image and the beginning of a new one. For me, It's also the end of the working week and the beginning of a long weekend! A couple of weeks ago I started a new job, in a small local village primary school. I work part time and my hours don't include working on Fridays! Long weekends are a total novelty to me, but I'm sure I'll get used to it!

So far I'm loving my new teaching post. It feels very strange working at a new school again, albeit just until the summer, but it's great getting my teeth into teaching a new group of kids. The school in its entirety only has 57 children, so it has a very small family type feel to it all. My previous English school was 5 times as big and all in all I had taught there, on and off, for 11 years. So this feels very strange and exciting all at the same time.

One of the things I love about the job is the daily commute, 11 miles towards the coast, through farmland and Marshland. Every morning is a birdwatcher's delight where Kestrels, Sparrow Hawks, Buzzards and pheasants seem to be everywhere. It's not just the birds that make an appearance. Over the last two mornings I've seen a fox, some deer and a couple of cavorting hares. It all certainly makes the drive interesting although I really must remember to take my camera along!

So there you go, whatever you are up to over the next few days, I hope you have a relaxing time.
Love Amanda x

  1. What a lovely commute! I used to drive through the Mersey Tunnel and down town Birkenhead and Liverpool. It must feel very strange in such a small school. Different challenges! Hope it all goes well xxx
