Six Words and a Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to May! Better weather and two bank holidays to enjoy. Starting though with a photo that was taken just before the Bank holiday weekend. The last couple of days of April and just look at it!

So joining in with Miriam to tell a story in six words this is what I came up with...
Seriously? Snow? And this is Spring?!

So we shall wait and see what May has in store for us!

Secondly to round up April, I've a few Scavenger Hunt photos, linking in with Greenthumb at madewithlove.  We didn't have a list for this month, but it seemed a shame not to go round collecting photos and so I used last year's April list.
To make it a little more interesting I came up with a few familiar sayings and proverbs/ sayings that relate to the given word.

So here we go:

Glass
A selection of glassware found in an antique shop. I love the fact that someone has thrown in a lightbulb too!
'Fortune and glass break easily'
'People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.'

Fresh
Some fresh flowers on my kitchen table.
'Fresh as a daisy'
'Benefits, like flowers, please most when they are fresh'

Clouds
Some fab looking clouds just around sunset.
'Every cloud has a silver lining'
'All clouds do not bring rain'

Something Sweet
The delicious array of cakes found at the Vintage fair in Liverpool.
Forbidden fruit is the sweetest.
Revenge is sweet

Chair
Some old chairs and a tractor seat, waiting for a transformation!
'One who sits between two chairs may easily fall down' (Russian proverb)
'Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere'

Rain

Actually it's sleet, rather than rain, that then turned to snow! This was taken out of a cafe window in Shap, high up on the A6 in Cumbria.
'It never rains but it pours'
'Put it by for a rainy day'

Whatever I wanted

A stained glass image 'The hills of Home', found at the visitor centre at the Galloway Forest Park.
'Blue are the hills that are far away"
'Home is where the heart is'

Bedroom
My bedroom, recently redone!
'Sleep on it' '
'Sleep like a log'
'Not losing any sleep'

Growth
Some small saplings growing in the Galloway Forest Park.
'From little acorns do mighty oaks grow'
'Confidence is a plant of slow growth'

Upside down
Now these two photos show the whole story. Me, lying down to take a picture, upside down of the trees in the forest, lying on what they call a 'Rosnes' sensory bench.
'God hears things upside down' (Lebanese proverb)
'To turn someones world upside down'

Egg

Crack a few eggs, add some veg and you end up with a Spanish Tortilla, an Italian Frittata, or a good old fashioned omlette.
'You can make an omlette without breaking eggs'
'Dont put your eggs all in one basket'

Feet
I'm afraid this one is an archive one. I had an image of my two feet in walking boots, but somehow the camera card gave up the ghost and I couldnt retrieve it, so instead I looked out for this one! If nothing else it makes me think of lovely weather and an ideal way to spend a day. This was taken in Borneo just a couple of days before I flew home for good. Oh, how I miss those beaches!
'Walk on your own two feet'
'Get your feet under the table'

I'm sure you can think of a few more phrases and proverbs.
Until next time.x

  1. I like your take on the Scavenger Hunt. It felt odd not having the hunt this month (though I must admit a relief too) and I did consider thinking up a theme. Might have to do that this time as I did enjoy looking through yours. Love the look of your house with the old beams. x
